Sole Object of and constant End of Action, or object of mans pursuit, well-being

His own Well being is actually properly and necessarily the
sole object of every mans pursuit

actual — what the proper.
§.1. Questions Topics belonging to this head
Well-being, composed as hath been seen, of the
maximum of pleasure minus the minimum of pain
the pleasure it will be seen a man's own pleasure — the pain a
man's own pain will upon sober consideration a strict and close enquiry
be seen to be actually the ultimate entrance and
sole ultimate object of pursuit to every man at all
times.
1 Can it ever fail or cease cease or fail so to be?
2. Can Each then that occasion in which it ought
to cease or fail or cease so to be?
3. If this can not to every no man ever cease or fail to be the
ultimate object of his pursuit, then what it may be
asked can ever be the use or effect of this or any
other discourse on the subject of Ethics.
