2. Duration short. Once Well men, and what if it be
Take each taken by itself, there is but little of it. Well
and what of that? [Taken by itself and to speak of shillings or farthings, even a guinea is
but a small thing.] Take out of your pocket a guinea, and get
the change for it: — which is worth most, the guinea
or the change. Which of the two is heaviest the heavier, a pound
of gold or a pound of feathers? When an answer
is found has been given to these questions, then and there it is that
the observation about shortness will be found to have
any thing in it but based on words.
