When things are arrived at this pitch, the virtue, so
far from being extinct, extinguished, {is arrived at that
pitch elevation of excellence at which it shines forth in its highest
lustre} has risen attained / reached to the pinnacle of perfection: and
definitive indeed would be that definition of virtue
the effect of which would be to exclude from its path
the very perfection of virtue.
