Logic & Ethics

This being the case, of what use according to you can this work of
yours, or any other work that can be written on the subject
ever come to be?

1. As no Be he who he may, according to you, it is
by his own particular interest: his own self-regarding interest, that
by consideration of which in so far as concerns choice of pleasures and prescriptions are the characters of ends: may here want soever in respect of choice of end
on every occasion, be it what it may, a mans conduct
will be governed: – this being the case, to what use speak
to him of his extra-regarding interest? – of interest instituted by the pleasures or
exemptions or pains of others?

2. Again – as between the in the domain field
of interest self-regarding interest, as to the competition
and conflict between the it present and the contingent future,
he each man being, according to you, the sole competent judge as
to what is most conducive to his ultimate aggregate and ultimate
interest, to what use speak to him on the subject of
the preference to be given to on any occasion, to the one
in comparison of the others?
