3. So far from giving force furnishing with arms, it inspires chains applies restraint upon
that appetite by the force which men in general are sent driven into
this field: viz. ambition, love of power the matter of good
in all their shapes money, power, in which leads points to it.

This which in his studies the man of politics the man of ordinary
politics is in search of is not truth: it is the means
of giving to success to his endeavours while advocating the
cause in favours to which the supposed interest of his life is the interest of the innocent
and the occasion has attached his virtue and exertions.

The point object to which the word guts of his interest points directs itself may is liable
every moment liable to change: neither the de principle of all
comprehensive utility nor the any of the general immediately derived from
it are susceptible of any such change. On each occasion
his work his decrees his endeavours, is are to gain his point:
for to this purpose unfortunate is he indeed, if in the wilderness thicket
of customary language he finds not one or more leading
words and phrases which, when applied with a certain
degree of dexterity may be made subservient. The Barrister
