1819 Apr. 29
In the case of beneficence and benevolence the language
being so unhappily constituted, as that for giving expression the by
one and the same word to the intention and the act, and thence
the effect – the effect including the act no word is afforded,
after the notice as it is in the opposite and corresponding
case of prudence. The result seems to be that after this wording we must content
ourselves with using sometimes the the one sometimes the other
of these two so intimately related words; using moreover
both, where for preventing misconception, both present themselves
as indispensable.
