to the whole amount of Capital invested, are employed. To produce
half the amount which 2,539. British seamen produced, though
not encouraged by any bounty at all, to say nothing of the
inferior quality of the French Fish. The result, on the whole
is not less than a loss to the French people of seven times
the Capital for which they might have obtained the necessary
supply of Cod Fish for themselves and their Colonies.
