2 Interrogation is often offensive other than in the shape way of request – there
is a manner of interrogation which assumes all the
dogmatism of command. A question is put in the
shape of a requisition. Information is called for with
the co-erciveness of authority. It is one of the exhibitions
of imperiousness. It is generally exercised by superiors towards inferiors & its vexatiousness increases in proportion
as the interrogator is less & less removed from above the rank of the interrogated.
The purpose of a question being to obtain an answer
morality requires that the answer should be associated
with no unnecessary pain.
