A learner if
the particular words
he has deduced the
general idea thus
were intended to convey
be will sooner
or later be able to
find apt general
words for the expression
of it

suppose Whatsoever words form of words is are necessary and
sufficient to the giving expression to the general idea which
?? the particularindividual diagram with the reasoningletters? which all along
apply?applies to it was intended to convey - let men suppose
it, as in the case of Euclids propositions, as above above mentioned
ready provided, and extended not only to the propositions
but also to the steps and demonstrations and the directions
be which the preparatory additions to the figure are described.
Things being in this state the idea from the
very first presents itself to his mind in all its rably: in the only garb
and condition in which it is capable of being applied
to . The idea If then so it is that from the proposition
in question, demonstration &cas above included, he has
succeeded in deducing any idea at all, that idea is
a general one, an idea fit for use it is not a mere individual idea
having for its necessary subject<add>object</add> of reference support the individual figure.
In that case, employing the general words in question, or
others that are equivalent to them, be well within in
addressing himself either to a that Teacher for the purpose of
proving (his own proficiency], or to a learner for the
purpose of communicating it his proficiency to that
same learner, find himself either to demonstrable
on the occasion of any line, for instance that happenswhich for
the purpose of the demonstration require to be drawn
able to describein a condition it by the words descriptive designative of the relation
which when drawn it will bear to the other parts of
the figure: he will not say draw A B or draw
A C having it for the party addressed to find
mate discovery of the plan which the line when drawn
will occupy: a discovery which otherwise than by
the diagram, and copying that part of diagram be
all for want of the general words in question find it impossible to make.
