2. Condition to usefulness
- the not
requiring more room
than could be afforded.
This fulfilled
2. Another condition necessary to usefulness is that taken
together, the collection of signs employed should not be
too bulky for use: could not occupy so great a quantity
of space as not to be capable in a number
sufficient for instruction capable of being brought together
into one Table.

Diagram continuing
letters of reference
1. the letter must be
large enough to be
conspicuous
2 The diagram must
afford room for the
inserting of these letters
sometimes
without, sometimes
even within the figures
Here no letter of reference
are employed
Neither was this condition it is believed allege
this unobserved unfulfilled. In the ordinary mode of designation,
a circumstance which necessitates the allotting to
each figure a large space there would otherwise be necessary
is the affording room enough for the letters of reference
these letters large enough to be distinctly clearly distinguishable
and so placed as that no doubt should
have place in regard to the part which in and instance
they were employed to designate. But in the
proposed plan these arbitrary and naturally unexpressive mask
would have no place

So it was and
would be, in so few
as each proposition
with its diagram
were exhibited
apart from the others
In some such way would the matter stance in regard
to the several propositions separately taken.
