Conclusion
Supposing the whole field of geometry mathematics
or in a word of mathematics surveyed and delineated
upon this plan, understanding the state of the mind then what would in that case
be signified by the phrase word understanding or such
phrases as those viz. he understands plain elementary geometry
he understands sections – or in general he understands
the subject would be a state of mind considerably
different from that which at present is respectively indicated
by those same phrases, and that accordingly by in the
words signification of the words learning and teaching
as applied to the same subject the correspondent changes
would be undergone made.
