Chrest. Tab. II
Every proposition in mathematics is a general the sort of proposition
called stiled in the logical sense a general one: and it is
that sort of general proposition which in the same sense is
stiled an universal one.
In so far as it there exists any individual subject,
capable of being designated with propriety by the same appellation,
in which that the assertion conveyed expressed by that general
proposition is actually exemplified, that general proposition
is true actually true.
In so far as it is considered as possible that
some individual to in which if it existed that same general proposition
would receive its exemplification should be in existence
that general position is in so far considered as potentially, and in that case a more or less probably probable
true is likely to be true.
In so far as it actually has any such exemplification
as above a mathematical proposition is at the same time also a physical
one actually a physical one.
In so far as it is capable of without actually having any
such exemplification it is considered as capable of having, and
thereby is more or less likely to have it any such exemplification it is considered
as per being also a physicial one.
So far from being useful A mathematical proposition is therefore not so much
as true unless a either actually or at least potentially, it
be also a physical one.
