J.B. to Belgium

Jeremy Bentham
to the
Belgie Nation and its Congress
On Kingship and its Equipment.

Belgium: Letter I.

"Your predecessors" (have I said once and
again to the French National Assembly) Your predecessors
"made me a French Citizen". To you Belgians, I
can not exactly say as much: no such honor has
as yet been mine. But neither am I altogether unknown
among to you: not will it, I hope, do you meet harm
should you hear me speak like one.

Congress &c.
