the better for how any such functionary remains to
be shewn: and - how to shew it would (I can not but
suspect) be found matter of no small difficulty.

21. On the other hand, what you may be perfectly sure reasonably expect
be the worse for him, may (I am inclined to
think) be sh seen without any difficulty:
seen to a degree of clearness sufficient to
pr present to view a practical conclusivedeterminative opposite
to that which I have the mortification of seeing acted
upon.

22 By the worse I mean in the first place, in money
matters. But this consideration will come presently into view
under the head of costliness.
