The first steps of our Author are marked
by [his characteristic] ambiguity. The objects of
the Laws are divided distributed into Rights and Wrongs.
Rights are distributed into Rights of Persons
and Rights of Things.† † MS. VIII. 22. What is manifest condensable
is, that the connecting particle in these two
cases, though the same in sound, is different
in sense. Of as it is commonly called is a
Possessive Particle. It serves to indicate Possession, it
indicates a Possession in the subject characterised oral for fictitious person
by the word that follows it: of which possession the person or thing characterised by the word that precedes it is the object. The Followed
by the word persons and preceded by the word Rights it indicates those
rights whereof those persons are in possession.
We may say that they Persons possess Rights.
But cannot say that The expression is familiar. No one ever spoke of things possessing Rights:
It shocks the ear. To express justly and conformably to usage the meaning

two different preparations. Rights exercisible
