Another is, that to a man whose temper has
any thing of sensibility in it, and who is
not a sharper, there are so many objectsso many persons are objectible
to as antagonists, that it is seldom he can
meet with any that in this view are perfectly
unexceptionable. If friends, he has can be no satisfaction
in coinning it is but playing from one hand into another: if strangers he has no confidence
in playing with them. If friend, Even if
common acquaintances, their uneasiness which must be more than
in proportion to his satisfaction, must by the
force of sympathy, operate on no inconsiderate
proportion in abatement of the latter.

high for him, could be too low for them: it
is not worth their playing for. It will not
afford arouse an interest of sufficient magnitude to keep up
