Equity.
I will endeavour to draw the line – I will not
leave the reader in the distraction he has done.

This Section of our Author now comes to a close
At this place He now says a little of Equity, and I shall say
nothing – In another place, not far to come to, he
says a little more, and I shall not say much:
last of all when he treats of it ex professo, he
breaks off and says not half what there was to say
upon the pretence that we shall see. This first
pittance we shall class to the second pittance
and give consider these together. [Not that this had anything
to do here.] And here for the present
we like our leave.
To that place also we shall reserve the Summary of what we
have to offer in the room
upon the joint topics of Interpretation &
Statutes Laws & construction of Stats. what our
Author has unnaturally put asunder,
without the an attempt to at reconciliation them.
In speaking of Equity in this country we are loaded not only
with the natural difficulty of the thing itself, but over
and above that difficulty with the difficulty arising
from the ambiguity of giving the same name
to a course of decision governed by rules
as g settled, and as general as those of what
in contradistinction to it is called Law.
Equity gives validity to dispositions that in Law
are invalid.
