it escape him, that the only characteristic difference
between the Laws that are to be met with in
scripture and these "dictates" as he calls them, "of
"nature" is that the former, having sensible being expressive really commands
expressions of a so many volitions having visible and permanent
signs of them still extant, are real Laws: and the latter
not being appearing to be commands, for by any signs we have of them, that supposes;
are not Laws: in short as proceeding from God,
are nothing: as proceeding from man are expressions
of he judgment of him who happens
to propose them.

[b] A discovery in Theology our author has made upon this
occasion we ought not to miss paying him our
acknowledgements for. It is that of A discovery I mean of three
more attributes in the Deity than we have been
used to hear of: to wit those of decency, honesty, and harmlessness.
They belong to him incontestably, if as our it be
author's informa true what our author says that to the "eternal laws" which enjoin these
good qualities, "the creator himself in all his dispensations
"conforms". Our author, who not knowing
very well what else to make give us (on the subject) seemed
resolved at least to give us a decent sermon, he's
sought everywhere to atone by by the exuberance of his piety for
