As to Jesus, we find him trusting the Law itself, with contempt and
the adherents to it with ridicule.+ + Quote This they say is the

fit to retain as part
of he morals.
At another time we find the same
Jesus declaring of the whole Law in general, that he
came not to destroy but to fulfill it.

Of this Law, that which enjoined circumcision was
a part. Against circumcision Jesus has said nothing; &
he himself was circumcised. For all this we find an
Apostle scrupled not to say that neither circumcision
availed anything, nor circumcision: which another the same
Apostle says in another place.

Under these difficulties, theologians have been reduced to
the necessity of adjusting settling the contents of the two parcels
above spoken of themselves, and of fixing framing their own work
for distinguishing an article that belongs to one of them,
from an article that belongs to the other. This mark
say they is the general or particular utility of the
article, of the regulation in question. Coming from God
they must all of course possess a certain utility, or at
best a certain worth equal or superior to use. Every
article then being useful, if generally useful to all who
should observe it of any other nation as well as of the Jewish it is an article of the moral Law,
