said they did. Not only is it true that neither by Jesus nor by any Apostle have the contents of such
respective parcels have been anywhere ascertained by them, but no neither by Jesus
nor by any Apostle is any
division into any such two parcels is ever anywhere expressly mentioned.
Not without an even are the terms now employ'd to express the two parcels
are so much as alleged to have been anywhere mentioned by Jesus or by any Apostle, or
any terms corresponding to them.+ + Qu. Typical.

That which is The Will of Jesus, and of the Apostles interpreters of
his Will is to be collected from, is the general aspect
of their discourse towards the Law of Moses; who now
speaking in favour of it, and now in derogation. To speak
now in favour now in derogation of the same whole,
would soever, it seems to have been supposed, of levity
and inconsistency. It would seem not to be the discourse
of a Legislator, much less of a divine one. On this
account, when it is in favour of this Law that they
have been thought to speak, it has been of one part
they have been thought to speak; viz: of the moral:
when in derogation, of another part, viz: of the ceremonial.
This distinction seems we have thus at first sight nothing more than what is necessary to reconcile
what has been said of it the Mosaic Law by these divine or
divinely-commissioned Legislators, to our notions of that
knowledge of human nature which teaches how to settle
the purport of a Law, and of that knowledge of language
which teaches how to fix upon the expression.
