SECT VI. Municipal Law.

I know not whether the this smooth passage will be thought worth
the quantity of words that must be spent upon it
to clear up the extreme confusion that involves it:
but I must take my chance.

I know not what he means by "an action lure; whether
the species or an individual. I know not as little here what
he means by ("indifferent in itself") as I did once
before. I would suppose he had some meaning in it
dressed as it is in the recollective thoughtful guise of a parenthesis.
It cannot mean therefore the same as,
not before prohibited by the municipal Law as far as concerns the Municipal Law, because
that is what in other words in other words is read follows immediately after
It must Either it means not mischievous, or I know not what
he means. But then the Law is censurable⊞⊞ ⊞⊞ (unreasonable as his word is), on another
score ex-post-facto or not ex-post-facto: and the
passage had nothing to do in the description of an
ex-post-facto Law as such. The Law is a bad Law,
as delivering is debarring man from pleasure and thereby producing pain to do no purpose. For on action
that nobody has a mind to do, nobody prohibits. And to be debarred from what one has a
mind to do is a pain. If he further means believed not
to be mischievous by those the Legislator who forbid it,
then is the
Law still "unreasonable" on a still further score.
The law is a law intentionally bad. And this whether
an ex-post-facto Law or not. So that neither is that is
with
any such circumstance as can contribute to
render
