is that when called Municipal Law it tales its instructions
from "the supreme power in the state": Natural
Law, from God himself. We One may have heard of divinity of operations by the same spirit spirit: here we read of spirits that are diverse; but of operations that are the same. The bottom of this is

The truth of the matter is, this it is the case with
this Author, as it is with me: he does not like
bad laws, laws that are wrong, laws in short that
he does not like. Thus far we are agreed. But
he has found out a way of clearing gone to work and cleared away the ground of
those bad laws in a method that I must or I should not have thought
of putting in practise. He has turned them into no
Laws: according to an old established recipe in so supposed which he learnt of the brethren of
the trade and which he now opposes is very choice of. When a Judge does not like meets with a decision
pronounced before him, that he does not like and chooses to decide contrary to it: his
does way is not to say it is bad Law: that would be wrong:
but to say it's no Law: and then it's all's right.

The obvious use effect of this edifying clause the word right is to make
people suppose themselves justified in disobeying
or even opposing any Laws they happen not to like:
a conduct for which indeed they have a still more
explicit warrants from several other from passages
of our Author.

The denying the validity of a Law of which they like are
forwarded of the inexperience
not the contents is a common expedient of popular
impatience: it is as pernicious and as much to be
regre lamented as it is common: for nothing have more is more apt to
