him where. If he knows where to enquire, and
does enquire, then he may be learn informed: no thanks, how—
ever restore to this rule.
The truth is, the it is not this nor any rule concer—
ning technical words, that cab be if are for
the purpose of instruction: the only purpose it can
have some is that of a caution: and that of, not in the
case before instance where the sense the word
has is can, credibly be no other than a technical one: : but where it
has ab ordinary sense, and uses and above that
a technical one. The ordinary one is that which
will naturally first suggest itself: at least to a
man who is not much constant in the art
to which by it's technical source the word belongs.
It may be of use therefore to just have upon his guard
by adversing him to look out, especially in case
for a further sense than at first sight he would sus—
pect in it. the caution us more particularly needful
(" on another this is the only case in which it is at all
useful) where the ordinary occupation afford sense which is not
such a sense in fact intended will form with the other words, in the sentence
a proposition so far plausible, as not to be regard—
able of for such an one as could not have
been intended.designed
