have found for it, holds good in with respect of to one
as much as to another. In this method of proceeding,
which our Author very consistently
adheres to, he knows very well what he is about.
He who teaches abstruse things so as to

There are two ways, he
knows, of teaching things that are science that is abstruse: one is to make them teach
them it so as to make them it understood, and being
understood, not long to be abstruse. This
is difficult; and what a man gains by it, is to
make his hearers satisfied with themselves. The
other way is, so to teach them it as to leave them it
unintelligible; yet so to manage, as that their the
prof hearers should attribute their not understanding
rather to their own unfitness to learn, or that of
the subject as science to be taught, than that of the Professor
to teach: which the a notion there are apt enough
to entertain, considering that it requires knowlege
which by the supposition they have not got, to
cure them of it. All that is necessary

make them worshippers of him the Professor.
