for finding not the sense of the words of a pair by age subject—
matter: and at the same time how fit it is, as has
been already intimidated to sense as an example under
two former topics: that concerning the look—out to
be might against technical words, and that concer—
ning the use to ve made of the context. The
very word that is designed to express the subject
matter the word [provisions] is a technical one:
hung of that insidious sort of such real words, (above noted by us) that
binds it's technical sense has one that is common
and familiar. The 'common one is that in
which the ordinary run of raiders might be apt
to take it: and certainly would take it if it were not for certain words that
accompany it. These words I have included
in brackets. These words are what may be said in rela—
tion to it, the context, They are interwoven with
the body of the law; as also more explicable, with
the preamble: this law being drawn up accor—
ding to a plan which Lord Bacon justly
stigmatises as virtuous, that of the retrospection
of the (by means of a word of reference like the
word such) of the body of the law into the pre—
amble. It is the word expressive of the sub—
ject matters therefore that is ambiguous: it is the context
that explains it: and this is the manner in
of its explaining it takes to explain it. It serves as an adjust
