Common Law. Division of it into Customs and Maxims.

the body of the Law is unlimited and inexhaustible. The rules
thence
number of the commands and usages themselves tho' next
is however limited. Tis only certain persons that have
the making of them, and only a certain number
that actually have been made.

I have said Legislative regulations or as well as judicial
usages. For a conformity of between a number of Legislative
regulations is as capable of furnishing matter for
a maxim, as a conformity between a number of
customs or of th Judicial usages. The maxim
"No man is bound to accuse himself" is deducible with equal
truth from the Statute as from the Common Law.
