§. 2. Codification

The aggregate of Particular Codes may be distinguished
into two portions, or say

Particular Codes unilateral or say non-reciprocal,
particular Codes bilateral or otherwise plurilateral or say reciprocal

Unilateral all those in which for particular purposes
chiefly of Revenue in promotion of trade particular classes of
individuals are subjected put under special regulations and obligation, as towards the Government.
Of this sort are Classes thus dealt with of this description are those
which respectively have to deal with g in the several characters
of manufacturers importers exporters and consumers of commodities
are in respect of their several relations subjected
to taxation, in for the service of the revenue prohibitive or positive obligations – for the benefit with a view to
preservation, extension and or improvement of trade, or the exclusion
of annoyance be to individuals in the neighbourhood by the mode
in which this or that branch of production is capable of being exercised.

Public For the enforcement of those obligations the appropriate services
of public functionaries Judicial included being in all cases necessary,
all Codes whether unilateral or bilateral or plurilateral
as above, are in this respect plurilateral.

Bilateral are those in respect is that species of Code in which parties species of individuals more
than one in virtue of some reciprocal relation or say bond
of relationship connected with one another in point of interest
each subject to obligations at the charge for the benefit of others: each possessing
rights at the charge of the other.

Those relations may be distinguished into 1. domestic;
2. extra-domestic: extra domestic those between Husband and
Wife: Father or Mother and Child immediate offspring, 3. Guardian and Ward.
4. Master and Servant: the 5. Principle and Scholar: genealogical may also be termed the
three first. In the case of the preceptor with whom the child is put to board
the functions of the preceptor and those of a sort
of guardian or deputy
