Minerals, masses of matter inert matter constituting portions of the earths surface, or lodged at
a distance greater or less distance from and beneath the surface
applicable to use by more simple change of form, without
change of texture. To this class belong masses of stone, separated
from the immoveable mass and rendered moveable
for example for the purpose of habitation: The harder the substance,
the and the greater the depth below the surface, the
greater the labour: consequently, in case of loss, the greater the
pain of disappointment or in one word the stronger the disappointment.
Name of the efficient cause of right in this case say
exfodiation: in applied to the case of minerals, it matches with venation
in applied to the case of animals.
Masses of stone are appliable to use without change
of texture: masses of metallic ore not without change of
texture: in this last case to the labour of separation, is
added the labour of analysing: effecting the separation of
the useful from the absolutely or comparatively useless portions:
a process in the performance which the application of heat has generally
the principal share.
☞ Go on thus till the list of efficient causes of right is concluded:
then proceed to the efficient causes of cessation of right.
