Blackstone
Wrongs being In the hands In Blackstone the word wrongs is the main
instrument of classification. It stands at the head of
one of the four masses of literary matter forms parts-and-parcels
of which the whole matter of his work is composed.
These are 1. Right of persons. 2. Right of
things. 3. Private wrong or (say) civil injuries.
4. Public Wrongs or (say) Civil Crimes and Misdemeanors.
Here is the In this arrangement may be seen the a
semblance of good apt method and expression: but the reality it will be seen is wanting.
By this method of his clear conception not being capable
of being conveyed afforded given, hence the necessity of another, by
to which such conception may be afforded, and by reference to
which the clouds which envelop in his method is involved may be dispelled.
Speaking of the Laws of England the objects
of them he says are 1. Wrights. 2. Wrongs
