Those sources of benefit and services are all of them
so many subject matters of hum operations – of human
operation: of those several operations by which benefit
in the corresponding shape is derived – from which services
in the corresponding shapes is extracted.

For even the imaginary things above mentioned with
the correspondent benefits, imaginary as they are, may
be and are subject matters of operation to the Legislature
for example they may be and are in some some instances
extinguished or say annihilated; in other instances
transferred: transferred from the hand as it
were of one man to that of another.

Considered as belonging to one person or aggregate
of persons to the exclusion of others a benefit in any shape is personal
property.

A person considered in respect of his having it in
his power to derive from the benefit good in any of the
shapes in which by the person in question that agreeable result is regarded as being capable
of being derived from it, the benefit is said to be in his
possession, and thus in this word possession we have
a sort of abstract or say fictitious entity, which we
are in the habit of talking of, and talking all manner
of things about as if it were a really existent being
as a thing which a man has – as a thing which a man
is in: as a thing which a man may gain have or
not have – may gain or lose. All Fictitious This way of talking
in this way is fictitious as it is – fictitious, and, as if all
sentiment of blame separated from it it may be termed
false, is necessary, in pain of not talking at all: fallacious,
deceptious it can not be termed: since, willingly at any rate
on the part of him who
uses it, nobody is
deceived by it.
