Acts by which It is by one or other of two sorts
of acts that the possession of a benefit – an article of property is – to
the proprietor rendered serv production of a service in
any shape: say in two words rendered serviceable.
One is occupation; the other transference: or say transmission.
Occupation serviceable to a proprietor is either by himself
or by this or that other person or set of persons – by whom
the service or subject matter in question is rendered serviceable
to him.

When it is by transference alone that the service or
say subject matter is rendered beneficial or say serviceable
to the such proprietor, in this case together a pleasure the good thereby derived from it thereby
by him is either of the self-regarding kind, or of the sympathetic
kind: the self-regarding, in so far as he receives
a retribution or say requited which if considered as being
of equal in value is termed an equivalent, on the occasion, and in consideration
of the transference: of the sympathetic kind, in so far
as from the contemplation of the good derivable from it
by the person or persons to whom it is transferred, he
himself receives a pleasure: as in the case of an article
of property given gratuitously to a child or other person
rendered dear to him by the connection of natural relationship in the way of consanguinity or
affinity, or in a word any other tie or say bond of
amity.

place either in his lifetime or not till after his decease.
