In a word what is highly necessary that be understood is
that two things alone are in and by the words undertaken
for. One is, the conveying to the readers in regard to the rule of action which has place in England a general conception
of the character tendency and effects and tendency [of
the rule of action that has been in England] more clear
easily comprehended and in its nature correct than is to
be found in any other publication as yet extant, especially at any rate
in a compass so concise or in any degree approaching as
to being so equally concise: the other is on each occasion the
by appropriate reference to point out to give information to the reader the passage
or passages in Blackstone or some other writer whence are
whereby the reader may receive in relation to the work such satisfaction as the
nature of the case admitts of, or at any rate be conducted
to the original sources, from where such that satisfaction
such as it is, may be derived deduced/obtained.
If when the law is maleficent the rule acts as beneficial upon the state it is represented
as maleficent upon the whole; if where it is perfect
and adequate to its assumed alledged good purpose it is
