Blackstone
When the re list of those classes is taken into consideration
if it will be soon be obvious if it be not already it will soon be obvious, that
to one and the same individual it may happen to belong to
at the same time to classes more than one, is a
to which there are no certain limits. In domestic private life
it may happen to him to be a son and a father, at different
times a batchelor, and a married man – in extra-domestic
but still private life, an agriculture a husbandman at the same time
or at different times, a husbandman, a handicraft,
a shop keeper, a public house keeper: in public life
a Constable and an Overseer of the Poor, a Militia
man, a Clerk or other functionary in the pay of government.
So many of these classes as he belongs to
if, as the case cannot but be, to each of them are stand allotted
by law a certain class of rights and obligations, as established
by the correspondent enactments not allotted to any
other so many of the corresponding Particular Codes will be
it thus be necessary for him to make himself acquainted
with: but in the case of him who acts at the same
time in the greatest number of those characters, the law
burthen burthen will still be trifling in comparison
of what it would be if no such analysis and
separation were made.
