1828 Sept. 25
Blackstone

Ch. Universal Jurisprudence
(1) §. Subject Matter of consideration

§. Subject matter of consideration in regard to rights and obligations
In relation to the subject in hand be it what it may,
the feeling of mastery
is a pleasant feeling.
This feeling, we flatter ourselves
with the hope of giving
to our readers at the
outset.

1
Rights & obligations
subject matters
1 Efficient causes of
possession
2. Efficient causes of
cessation

Subject matter of rights and obligations — efficient causes
of possession of those rights and subject to those obligations
efficient causes of cessation of the possession of those rights;
efficient causes of subjection to those obligations — Under
these heads it might seem that every thing is worth
knowing every thing ever that is capable of being known
in relation to the nature and effects of law — is included.

2
Possession of a right
what.

1. In regard to a right, he is the possessor of that right
in possession of that right is he in regard to whom on whose behalf an efficient
cause — any one in the list of efficient causes that or such
with reference to that right having taken place no efficient cause
of cessation of possession in regard to that same right has taken
place

3
Subjection to an obligation
what

So in regard to obligation

4
Rights & obligations
their connection together

Thus it would be wise to cast aside in relation
to every species of subject matter no more than one right obligation at a time had
place at
as in the case of trusts
and words

But we will be sure there are rights out of which, in a strong or say
a serious take this rule and spring other rightly
and
obligation and other right

In regard to a right what a
man at all times under the
Law is — whether and when he has it
whether he is liable to be it.
So, in regard to an obligation

This being procured and admitted, still it is not the less
true, that (independently of the consideration of the from which
the right and correspondent obligation receives their efficiency
and the machinery — the Judiciary system and system of Procedure
employed in making of the force of that )
when every thing is said that be the of this
same right and obligation, together with the official causes of commencement
and cessation of possession and subjection respectively, every thing is said
a
rise or current in point
of interest to be informed of
with a view to his
his conduct accordingly.
