1828 Sept. 8
Blackstone
In a word – of that money which Law as it is spends on
Judges, case superior and their subordinate instruments, and Professional lawyers.
Law as it ought to be to part, ( and to spend moreover part suffices) in Judges and with
their Subordinates alone with Professional Lawyers in the
small number to which it is reduced by the abovementioned just mentioned
causes: what the one spends on paying for the indiscriminate (as Junius phrase it)
defence of right and wrong, the other spends on paying for
the defence of right against wrong, and that alone.
