Blackstone.

Per Reader – expected to
find, laws and not words
entirely.

Author – We must refer
you for them, to another
shop, where they do not furnish
what you have just
seen, what they do is best
known to Professors.

Legal arrangements of
some sort for security, every
where – but nothing
universal except the language.

On the part of learned
Gents, ideas and language
not very clear: they confound
Law as she is with
Law as she ought to be, particularly
with regard to
Rome-bred Law.

It is neither Law as it
is, nor as it ought to be –
the sanction of no sovereign
body has been attached
to it.

Pay an Astrologer – he
will tell what will happen
to you; – pay a Common
Lawyer he will tell what his
Goddess has determined. Astrologer
produces Stars; Lawyer
cannot produce his
Goddess.

If you talk of substituting
real for sham, law
– he is frantic.

Astrologer modest compared
with Anti-Codifiers.
