Common Law itself. Dream

Law and Blackstone
A Dream

Once upon a time, I who write this dreamt
a dream. Anxious to make my escape from responsibility,
I should gladly have followed the example of
Reviewers, and, speaking in the plural number,
have sought shelter as behind a screen, behind the Honorable
under whose auspices, I write. Precedent did was
and not found to admitt of this. Precedent, on
this occasion in was not found disposed in a humour to
lend its aid to . No two individuals
saw at the same time the same Ghost. No two individuals
were ever known to dream at the same
time the same dream. Under the yoke of this necessity I laid my head on my
solitary pillow, and dreamt what the reader will see.

Statute law is in but too large a proportion a sad
reality. Common Law is from beginning to end to him
who sees it in it's true light a frightful dream. To
each dreamer it is a separate dream to but too many a
golden one.

Law has been pronounced a bottomless pit. In the course of
this same dream of mine this axiom notwithstanding I endeavoured
to see the bottom of it.

Law is a dream and all things show it
I thought so once and now I know it

Law and Blackstone. Dream.

I observed that the seat of the
Professor Blackstone was part
of it under one of theirs part of
it under the other but he
appeared a great favorite with
both and that without interruption
of amity he seemed
to be in the possession of both
on the footing of joint tenancy.
