Constitut. Code
The Be the act what it may, the more obvious theinj
detriment to defalcation produced for general happiness the by it is, the more readily will
it be acknowledged that by fidelity to an engagement for the commission
of it the sum of happiness will not be increased by it
and thence the less the difficulty of seeing and acknowledging that in
the case of fidelity to engagements is not prescribed by but inconsistent
will virtue. On the other hand, the less obvious plainly the mischievous
quality in the act is discernible, the more apt men are not to be to miss the
omitt observation blind to or to overlook the circumstance that of its affording constituting
an exception to the general rule.
