Constitut. Code

If rather even an objection to this.

But, if f by fidelity to in honest engagements between thief and
an honest man intend not
man and man, whether honest or
dishonest is non-thieves or thieves entered into for an honest an innoxious
purpose the happiness of mankind is promoted encreased, so by fidelity
to engagements between thief and thief entered into for the purpose
of thieving, the happiness of mankind is diminished.

To everything that to which it is understood that without
impropriety the word treachery may apply itself, an
sentiment of abhorrence is want to be . But unless
this distinction be observed great is the mischief that may be capable of being
done by this abhorrence, and thus by application made of the
reproachful words. Treachery may requires to be distinguished into incidental
and original and insidious. By incidental treachery understand
breach of an engagement not intended, by original treachery breach
of intended at the time of making entering into it. Thus distinguished defined incidental
treachery is imparts breach of engagement unfaithfulness to the engagement and nothing more. That it is the
conducive to the greatest happiness of the greatest number requires that engagements
by the fulfilment of which more happiness would be destroyed than produced
should not be broken should be left unobserved is manifest
the proposition is even the little less than an identical one.
Whether it be conducive to the greatest happiness of the greatest number requires
or even admitts engagements an engagement.
