Mode of operation

5. Means, mode of
operation: relation between
conduct pursued,
and benefit received
or looked for:
conduct pursued viz.
by him by whom the
benefit has been received
or is looked for.

141. 39. or 2.
Suborner, an appellation
applicable,
where there being
an act, pregnant with
preponderant evil to community,
but good to an individual
or individuals,
one man engages or contributes
or endeavours
to engage another to
do the act: for so doing
is subornation.
(Add. Subornation requires
two: corruption,
but one.)

Perjury, the criminal
act in which
the terms suborn, subornation,
suborner
,
originate.

143. 41 or 4.
Of applying them
to misdeeds in other
shapes the practice
is not equally frequent:
but where the
mischief of the crime
is still greater, the demand
is still stronger.
