Universal dislocation —
Reasons for.
Reason 2. Strengthening
security against corruption
as to corruption
otherwise.
1. By situation, without
contract, corruption may be
universalized.

2. Given to connections,
benefits, value to you
may be as great, as if to
self: thence, as efficient
as to corruptive dependence.

you would have given
him value at as great
expence to yourself.

4. Sum etc. the same, stronger
dependence is created
by fear of losing, than by
hope of gaining it.

5. By hope of offices for friends,
dependence any number

for self.
For, of offices self can
hold, the number is
limited.

6. By benefit received,
corrupt obsequiousness
may be produced as
effective as by fear, or hope

reproach of ingratitude,
with or without perfidy.
