Ch. XI. Judiciary collectively
(4) Copied (4) 2§. 27 Locable who (Judges)
Art. 3 5. For ascertaining and making known
at all times what individuals have by service become
thus qualified by experience, two sets of Tables are framed and preserved:
namely, a set of Individual Service Tables,
and a set of Aggregate Service Tables: the Aggregate
Tables being composed out of the Individual Tables.
Art. 46. A Judge Depute's Individual Service Table
is a sort of Almanack, in which, on each day of the
year on which the individual has served in that
character, entry is made of the number of hours,
during which he has on that day served: it is stiled
the Judge Depute Service Almanack Table.
Art. 5 7. In this Almanack Table, a man's years of service
are determined — not by the interval between the
day on which he first began to serve, and the day
in question, but by the number of hours during
which he has served. Days in two years, say 730:
serving hours in a day, say suppose 10: to compleat the two
Service years, service during 7,300 hours is on this supposition necessary.
Of these two service years, fulfilment may have
taken place in the time of two solar years: but,
it may not have taken place, but at the end of
any greater length of time, it may never have taken place.
