General rule Common
to all Judges functionaries,
a mark for discrimination
not for factitious dignity
Five leading general principle premise, for every class
but one, one general rule may suffice serve. Of which presently Common to
all a mark, serving for discrimination, not for factitious
dignity: for discrimination in the first place for the body of the
people at large, in the most place from each other

For Judge colour dark brown
legend in white Judge principal or
Judge Depute as the case
may be
For the Judge prin whether principal or depute, Immediate
or Appellate, colours black dark brown: for legend
the words in white Judge principal, or as the case may be Judge Depute. For
the Immediate and the Appellate Judge colours and legend
the same: for the Immediate and the Appellate none
being in each others presence no mark of discrimination
is needful, no mark expressive of different degrees of
depute, consistent with the above principles or in character as
inapt and conspicuous
as the condition of the
sash admitts

legend in brown Registrar
Registrar Colour white: Legend, in colour the
same as that of the ground of the Judges sash
the word Registrar

Government Advocate
colour striped dark brown
& white legend in red
Government Advocate
Government Advocate. Ground of the sash striped in broad stripes
dark brown and white: the breadth of the brown twice that of the
white. Legend in blue red the words Government Advocate

Eleemosynary Advocate
colour the same but Legend
stripes broader legend in
blue Eleemosynary
Advocate
Eleemosynary Advocate Colour the same, but the
white stripes as broad again as the dark brown. Legend
in blue, Eleemosynary Advocate.
Both being Advocates, by their office they are obliged to
plead argue indefinitely on either side of the suit: and in every
case to be partial to favourable in greater degree to one side, instead
of being so in equal degree to both sides
