At length In the year 17 Parliament opened its eyes awoke from its trance, and applied
what was presented as a remedy. Care was taken to empty it of at least half that it should be
but its offering an inadequate a feeble one. That a debt existed, was a fact to be sworn to,
though without regard it might be have been reduced to less than nothing by counter-obligations,
to be sworn to by the party, under with penalty as case of witness in case of perjury, or
But That the debt existed, yes: that any necessity for the arrest in the character as a
security for the debt, no: the plaintiff is not put to the trouble of so much as professing to in general terms to entertain any such suspicion much less to that of being cross-examined as to the grounds of it no such assertion is ever put into the oath.
Preserved instead of being extirpated, the abuse took but the firmer hold of
the ground for all this husbandry for this half unskilful half insidious husbandry. The
wonder is how in either House in Parliament any non-lawyer men could be so far imposed upon, as to
take this loss than half-measure for a whole one: has there ever been was there ever
that Judge, who could avoid seeing how far it was from putting stopping the abusive
part of his trade?

Now for the distinction. No care was ever has ever been taken for extending giving
to making the power to the the same extent of with the necessity. Of what use would it
have been to the ends of judicature? Such cases are casual rare accidental the grist
brought by them to the mill would have been but little
, they would have been but rare: the custom brought
by them would have been trifling. serve out grant the power to those who care for
it without necessity
Lay necessity altogether out of the question, from
not any want of customers.

For a corollary, take short note. Invitation to ex-lawyers to
propose plans for relative for the adoption of learned as well as noble and honourable legislators arrangements to serve in lieu of insolvent acts,
to arrangements for the a remedy to the abuses and inconveniences attached
to the imprisonment for debt. Propose to English Judges plans for reducing the population of their own Jails dominions. Propose first to West India planters plans for reducing the population of their own estates. Propose remedies to men in power for the abuses diseases
planted by thier predecessors and profited by of which the profit is reaped by themselves
diseases planted by themselves for their own profit? Yes: but before you
put give yourself to any such trouble, go to the Frog. and get a security from
him for his hanging himself. Go to the planter of a nursery ground
farmer who has just full been filling his barn with corn and propose to him
a plan for burning it.
