Instructive sentiment of disapprobation would by every action to which
the word unjust expression seems to be applicable. Where referred
to a determinate ground, that ground is utility, and the attraction be
to it is sympathy for mankind: i.e. to the portion of mankind
whose interests appear to be at .

Connect of the hatred of injustice with the antipathy produced by difference of opinion.

[ ] Love of Justice. Considered in the character of an interest
– a – a source of action – the idea attached to
the expression love of justice, or its a synonym or counterpart
hatred of injustice is seems very complex: understand and observe.
If the list of interests and capable of exerting an influence on action and emotions as given in the table, be
a compleat one, and the interest there denominated a complex
one, the elementary interests of which it is composed ought to must be to be will
be found upon that list in the Table.

That an emotion of pleasure or displeasure pain is capable
of being produced in the way of association, by a sound – an
articulate and significant sound, of which though a certain significant, the signification is
by no means altogether perfectly clear distinguishable and explicable, seems attested by
general and expensive experience. The ideas annext to the
words passion and injustice, even in by highly minds
are in many instances altogether vague and indistinct. When once justice is
explained by reference to utility, and utility by reference to
pains and pleasures, the indistinctness and obscurity is at an
end. But of the speculators on these topics there are many many
who on this and other kindred occasions are irreconcilably
averse to the setting down the idea of justice on any such clear
and explicit basis. They find it more convenient to turn
their backs to all such considerations as those of utility, happiness, unhappiness,
pain and pleasure, considerations grounded on and referring to general sensation or experience and to be each for himself and the rest of the
world, the creature and articles of justice.
