Of the Ends of justice in the Seat on the occasion of judicature.(a)
§. 1. True ends of judicature or proper ends of judicature.
The aggregate of the those objects objects thus meant to be designated
being the standard of reference, with to which
throughout through the whole course of this work every thing other object will be compared confronted referred –
the test, by which everything will be tried – everything that is
approved if approved – everything that is condemned
condemned – it seemed necessary, thus at the very outset, to
bring to together under one view a list of the those same objects, those designated
to and placed in such sort, that as will each by itself, as their mutual relation and dependencies,
