CERTAINTY—VINDICATory & CAUTIONary.
As the certainty aimed at by the instrumentary apparatus System is of two kinds, viz:, that of
bringing the penalty of the principal Law on those who are guilty, & that of not bringing it on those who are
every provision of that System will have one or other of those two objects.
The guarding clauses to the provisions of accessory offences of hypothetically cause —necessary
connection with the principal are of the latter kind
Each clause according as it has appears <add>concluded
to have</add> to have one or the other for it's object may
be marked with the Syllables
or cant: for vindicatory or cautionary; if both with both of them together—vindicant.
