Tit. II. B. & C.
Superseded? of Justice is doubtless to be like the highest sphere firmament
in I forget what system of astronomy all adamant:
it is to be decked I suppose with ribbons and
strewd with stars and flower-de-lueis The Princes of the Blood are: in it
is to be collected whatever is most opulent and
most dignified most glittering most gorgeous
and most imposing: that is whatever is most
likely to be most idle and indolent and ignorant,
and disdainful of public opinion, and sensible
to the glance of a royal eye. In a word it is
to be a sort of Cour des Pairs what the House
of Lords would be if stripped of its share in legislation.
I will not be a sort of Cour Plaisore:
by which I mean to convey an idea
merely of the nature and effects of the institution,
and by no means of the views that dictated
it. I say again, if it be were any thing it
will would be a Cour Plaisore and more than a
Cour Plaisore: but my comfort is that it will
be nothing.
