Tit. II. B. & C.

Accommodate Again — Once more What is meant by reconciliation?
Is it meant that the Pursuer should in consequence of the reconciliation is to receive all
that he is entitled to, or is it not? if he is, before
effect you can effect the reconciliation you must
know what it is he is entitled to. Is he not to
have all that he is entitled to? But why not?
The Law has promised him so and so, or he is
not entitled to it: why make the to what end force the law to break its
word? Is this Justice? Is this Peace?

Either the parties are disposed to be reconciled
without being forced compelled to it or they are not. If they
are, of what use is your Reconciliation-office established
at a great expence by law? Is there
any thing that hinders their meeting and talking
the matter over between themselves? Is there any
thing to hinder their calling in a common friend to
help them? Is it likely they should have more confidence
in men chosen by others than in a man
or men of their own choice?
