Tit: III. Art. 5
Each municipality of the Canton shall name four
persons of note, for the purpose of their discharging
the functions of Good-men-and-true sitting with the
Judge of the Peace. They shall be elected in the way
of ballot by a double list, and in the same form mode
as the numbers of the Department and District Administrations.
Art. 6
The Judge of the Peace shall call summon to sit
with him out of the whole number of Good-men-and
true named in the Canton, the two who shall happen
to be nearest to the place when he has occasion
for their assistance.
Art. 7
The Judge of the Peace and the Good-men-and
-true shall be chosen for two years: but they may be
confirmed by in a re-election.

Are these [Men-of-note] Assessors
The moral of the general idea, that of providing a check to the
arbitrary will of the Judge is indisputable. I cannot
say as much of the application.
These Assessors four of them are they to be paid or not?
If they are the burthen of the establishment will in most cases
